James Thomas is ICT Director for UCLH (University College London Hospitals) Trust, an 8 hospital group with a turnover in excess of £850m. UCLH is part of the world leading Academic Health Science System; UCL Partners and hosts 1 of only 5 Biomedical Research Centres in the country.

The UCLH ICT Services have won several UK and European awards for excellence in managed service delivery and won the Ovum Best Public Sector BYOX Strategy 2013. James was ranked number one in the 2013 CIO Magazine Top 100 Transformational CIOs and is a foundation member of the Xerox European Customer Advisory Council.

James has been involved with change management and technology for over 20 years, having worked across public and private sectors. His more recent career in public sector NHS has followed 7 years running consulting practices for Oracle Corporation dealing with a complete mix of businesses and technologies.

He started out at BP Exploration undertaking satellite image processing and oilfield concession mapping, moving into the water utilities working for Veolia delivering solution in GIS, real time telemetry, and customer billing through to ERP&BI system.

James is passionate about making sure that solutions are delivered through the enhancement of People, Processes and Technology.
